Joe Macrae
Joe Macrae is Chairman of Mlegal Group and an international partner of China Legal Career (CLC)
His practice includes retained search assignments for AM Law 100 firms expanding their operations in London, San Francisco and Silicon Valley, as well as working with UK clients on partner and team searches in London. Joe also handles senior in-house assignments and recently worked on General Counsel searches in New York, London and Palo Alto for clients ranging from a $20 billion revenue global entity to a Silicon Valley biotech.
Joe has worked on a number of major London moves for top UK and US firms over the years. He has also brokered law firm acquisitions in both the US and UK. Before moving to the Bay Area in 2001, Joe was based full-time in London. He moved into the legal recruiting field in 1988 and co-founded ZMB, now HaysLegal, in 1991. He oversaw the growth of that business from a start-up to a 60 person plus recruiting firm which was consistently ranked as one of the top two in the UK for quality of service and overall reputation.
Joe has worked extensively for law firms and corporations at the highest levels and has lectured in the UK and US on a range of issues including law firm mergers, compensation structures and attraction and retention of partners.
